Scientology is an applied religious philosophy. It has been in the news often enough. This website has some background and information. Scientology was developed by its founder, L. Ron Hubbard in the 1950s. Though the word itself was coined in 1932. It is a philosophy that has its roots in the Dharma, and its nearest distant cousin is orthodox Buddhism.
